One-man Wing Rigger
This piece of specialized equipment is used to unload and position for assembly the wings of a glider, one at a time and without assistance. Each wing is approximately 23' long and weighs 120 lbs.

ASW-15B - New Instrument Panel
I fabricated a new instrument panel for my glider to reorganize and add to the cluster. I also added a power socket for peripherals (i.e. flight computer).

Custom Matching Cabinets
This kitchen was extended and improved by adding two base cabinets, one with a garbage can pullout and the other of a unique shape to provide storage for large kitchen wares. The new countertop overhangs the two new cabinets creating a breakfast bar feature.

Personal Projects
The following is a sampling of the projects I've designed and built for my hobbies and homes.
3.6m Manual Mount Antenna
Original C-Band Design
Signal source/test bed for satcom electronics installed on the Scientific-Atlanta campus - Norcross, GA.
3.6m Motorized Mount Antenna
Redesigned for Ku-band and Motorized Positioning
The 3.6m reflector supporting structure and mount interface were redesigned to improve surface accuracy, facilitate adaptation of motorization, and to improve manufacturability.
7m Reflector Panel Tooling
Stretch Forming Die, Trim Tool
These tools are machined iron castings. The shape of the stretch forming die was designed to produce two panels per rectangular sheet of aluminum. The trimming tool employs a vacuum chuck allowing continuous router access. Invert the tool on its pivots to drill reflector assembly holes.
3.6m Reflector Inspection
Gantry CMM Inspection
CMM validation of reflector assembly surface accuracy (design goal +-0.020").
3.6m Argentina
Installation and training for first delivered units - Buenos Aries, Argentina
Conducted first unit assembly/installation and installation training for a new customer in Buenos Aries at their headquarters. Subsequent units were installed all over the country by the team on site that day.
3.6m Alaska
Survey of high wind damage at a remote site
Surveyed damage to one of two co-located 3.6m motorized mount antennas. These were installed at the peak of a mountain and subject to winds in excess of 125mph.
Whether it's design work in the office, getting hands dirty prototyping in the shop, traveling to tooling vendors for inspections and first article production, field service installation training or on site troubleshooting, it's all about engineering, customer service and expanding my horizons.
